I was born on the Greek island of Crete, to my Dutch mother and Greek father. When I was a few months old, they decided to move to the Netherlands in the hope that the education system would be better.
Unfortunately, that was very disappointing.
From a very young age, I already noticed that the education system does not suit me.
At first I thought this was me, but when I later found out that I am neurodivergent, I understood that this was not necessarily true. After having 5 primary schools in a span of 9 years, I was fortunately exempted from compulsory education. In my case, this was a saving outcome, but this should not have to.
I always take the traumatizing experiences with me, which makes everything extra difficult, even now that I study guitar at the conservatory. Sometimes I still think it's all my fault, but by being a board member at the Adviesraad , I learned that this is not the case. I want to help every young person with these experiences.
Every child deserves not only an education that fits, but also people who believe in them.
Within the advisory board I am committed to student perspective, student well-being and Safety. For questions you can email me at: danae@eigenwijsheid.eu
